Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine 3 has been officially announced, only six months after the massively successful launch of Space Marine 2.
Publisher Focus Entertainment is partnering with Games Workshop and Saber Interactive once again on the follow-up to the hit third-person shooter.
On the publisher’s website, a statement about the announcement teases “an even more immersive experience” in the threequel, “staying true to the Warhammer 40,000 universe, with intense, brutal, and spectacular gameplay.”
It would appear that development has just begun on this new title, so it’s likely we won’t be seeing its arrival for at least a couple of years.
“Players can look forward to an immersive campaign, a multiplayer mode, and innovations that will redefine the standards of third-person action games,” says Focus Entertainment’s deputy CEO John Bert.
Matthew Karch, CEO of Saber Interactive, shares in the excitement. “Space Marine 2 has proven to be a transformative game for Saber,” he says. “It is the culmination of everything we have learned about game development in our 25 years in the business. We are now starting to develop Space Marine 3, a game that carries with it tremendous expectations from our rapidly expanding fanbase.”
Those who are still enjoying Space Marine 2 won’t be shortchanged in the meantime. Bert and Karch say the team “will continue to support [Space Marine 2] with exciting content and regular updates in the coming years”, so it seems there’s no slowing down on the current game.
