Ex-Skyrim Dev Feels Bethesda Will Receive Online Harassment No Matter How Good The Elder Scrolls VI Is

by admin

Nate Purkeypile, a veteran of Bethesda who has worked on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim and Fallout 4, reckons online harassment is inevitable for his former company regarding The Elder Scrolls VI, even if it turns out to be the best thing since sliced bread.

Speaking during GDC this week, he called how “putting out Fallout 76 was a tough thing” since “the Internet can be really awful. Even if The Elder Scrolls 6 is great, I’m sure there’s gonna be these hour-long YouTube videos [and] death threats yet again,” he added. “If you put out a game that people don’t like, the internet is going to treat you like you’re clubbing baby seals.”

The Elder Scrolls VI was officially announced during E3 2018, although we haven’t seen anything on the game since. Bethesda has confirmed that the fantasy-RPG will be its next major project after Starfield and before Fallout 5, but a release date continues to remain elusive.

Due to the acquisition of ZeniMax Media at the hands of Microsoft a few years ago, it was assumed The Elder Scrolls VI would not be coming to PS5. However, given Microsoft’s recent pivot to bringing Xbox titles to other formats, the game may yet grace a Sony platform.
